WHO ARE WE

We are Adam and Caroline Reid. The husband and wife behind GS Casting Studio. The name is inspired by our daughters Grace and Stella.

Adam comes from a twenty-year background in solid plastering. Adam discovered concrete design after the birth of Grace and started experimenting at home. His extensive background in the trade made him well placed to branch out into this exciting new venture. He has since undertaken training with Pop Concrete in Brisbane, honing his skills in concrete design, in particular, using Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC).

Caroline works behind the scenes running the business, building the brand, managing social media and all the other little bits and pieces that go into running a family business.

Adam and Caroline work together designing new shapes and experimenting with new colours.

Our influences stretch far and wide. Caroline looks everywhere for ideas and inspiration. If she sees a beautiful piece of art, a glorious piece of clothing, homewares that make her look twice, literally anything, she snaps it and catalogues it for future inspiration.

Grace and Stella are our most treasured creations. But GS Casting Studio is our other baby.

WHAT WE DO

We create bespoke concrete products. Basins are our speciality and we also offer custom pieces. Concrete is our passion. We love concrete because no piece is exactly the same. Each piece has character.

We aim to put beautiful concrete pieces in your home. We pride ourselves on our meticulous attention to detail and quality artisanship.

Concrete perfectly compliments any home, work or play environment. We love it so much it featured in our previous home which we renovated.

WHAT IS GFRC

Our products are made using GFRC which is a specialised form of concrete with many applications.

It is similar to chopped fibreglass (the kind used to form boat hulls and other complex three-dimensional shapes). It is made by combining a mixture of fine sand, cement, polymer, water, other admixtures and alkali-resistant (AR) glass fibres.

Some of the many benefits of GFRC include:

Ability to Construct Lightweight Products – although the relative density is similar to concrete, GFRC products can be much thinner than traditional concrete, making them lighter.

High Compressive, Flexural and Tensile Strength – the high dose of glass fibres leads to high tensile strength while the high polymer content makes the concrete flexible and resistant to cracking.
