Busterandcoco

Busterandcoco Creator and Maker of functional and colourful rope and textile accessories for your home. It wasn't always like this. Funny how over time things change.

Hi, I'm Carol and come from Mortlake, a small town in south-west Victoria, Australia, where a 10 minute jaunt down to the shops can take an hour because you run into everyone you know and they are all up for a chat. I moved from a bustling city population 200,000 to a sleepy town of 1,200 when I married. What a culture shock, the transition was hard. I turned to my beloved craft and lost myself in

stitching and knitting and creating. Whilst my love of making something out of nothing is stronger than ever, I also know for sure I'll live in the country always and wouldn't have it any other way. I fell into rope sewing, literally, after doing a class making bowls out of plants and reeds and fronds from the garden. Whilst I loved the process of creating the bowl, I hated the mess and dirt and damp leaves. This lead me on a path of discovery with rope and the sewing machine and I was hooked. In starting my business Buster and Coco my aim was simple - to make functional and colourful rope and textile accessories for your home. I want you to be that person who has something truly unique and others want to know "where on earth did you get that", and you can smile knowing you have something truly wonderful. And whilst looking really beautiful, everything I make needs to have a purpose. Coasters and mats to save your precious furniture from hot dishes, or wet glasses; bowls and baskets to clear table tops of clutter and hold the the car keys or loose change, or stray Lego from the floor. My motto is simple. Life is short - use all the good things. Don't be like my grandma and grandpa who "saved" the good things to use for another day - that day never comes. Bring joy to your home with colour and textile and functionality. I hope you enjoy what you see, and give me a shout out if there's something you'd love me to make or a colour you'd love to see used, and I'll do my best.

Thoughts please? I’m slightly second guessing myself.

Baby gift I have made for an upcoming baby girl. Theme for the nursery is ‘jungle theme’.

Have I gone “too jungle”??

I guess in 15 or so years the baby may love animal print. Eeek.

Be brutal if you think I’ve missed the mark, I can take it.

PS that’s Buster over yonder on the couch.

I hope everyone has had a happy Easter with rest and relaxation. It’s been a quiet one in the Buster and Coco house.

We stayed close to home, a visit from my brother, a meal out at the local, I made rocky road (yum), Mr G spent some time in the studio painting and I crocheted and scrapbooked. Very quiet for us.

Tomorrow however a sewing day is planned after a morning walk. I have a special gift to sew.

🌟 **Maker Monday | Meet Carol** 🌟

🎨✨ Carol is the creative heart behind **Buster and Coco**, and her journey is stitched together with colour, passion and a whole lot of love.

🧶 **A lifelong maker**
From knitting and crochet to quilting and cross stitch, Carol has always loved craft. Her rope-sewing journey began (quite literally!) after a CWA class making bowls from garden plants 🌿. Loving the process but not the mess, she discovered rope and the sewing machine, and in 2017, **Buster and Coco** was born 💛.

❤️ **Made with heart**
Carol loves creating pieces for loved ones, believing every handmade gift carries a piece of her heart. Seeing her rope goodies now finding homes all around Australia leaves her feeling truly humbled 🏡✨.

🌈 **Inspired by colour**
Colour is Carol’s muse! Fabric, yarn, thread or dye, if it feels right, she runs with it. Watching colours come to life in her creations is what sparks her joy 😊.

🏛️ **Why the Courthouse?**
Carol loves that the Courthouse champions local talent and provides such a special space for makers to share their work. A big shout-out to the amazing volunteers who make it all happen 🙌.

🌾 **Community love**
Now based in Mortlake, Carol moved from Geelong 21 years ago. While the transition to small-town life was challenging at first, she now wouldn’t change it for the world, proof she was always a country girl at heart 💚.
