🚨 WHY THE RIGHT WINDOW FILM INSTALLER MATTERS!

Not all window films are created equal, and not every film is suitable for every type of glass.

While travelling back from project work, one of our team members stopped at a truck stop outside our usual service area and spotted this rather unfortunate window film installation.

Three problems stood out:

❌ Thermal stress fracture – What appears to be a case of unsuitable film selection. Installing the wrong film on certain types of glass can increase thermal stress, potentially causing the glass to crack or fail.

❌ Creased film – Once window film has been creased, that piece should be replaced. Simple as that.

❌ Contamination – Dirt and debris trapped beneath the film, leaving a visibly poor finish.

Window film installation isn't simply about choosing a shade and sticking it to glass. Understanding glass construction, thermal performance, film compatibility and proper installation techniques is essential.

Remember how hot that room got last summer?

Right now, it's easy to forget.

Spring weather is comfortable, the air conditioner isn't running constantly and those big west-facing windows aren't causing too much trouble.

With break-ins and property security a hot topic around Wodonga and the wider region, we’ve been getting more questions about security window film.

So — does it actually stop someone breaking through a window?

The short answer: it doesn’t make glass unbreakable.

What it can do is hold shattered glass together and make gaining entry considerably harder, slower and noisier.

And when security is the objective, there’s a lot more to it than simply sticking a thick piece of film on the glass. The film, existing glass, window frame and attachment system all need to work together.

We recently completed works at the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel installing 3M Fasara Seattle in guest room bathrooms and restaurant areas, along with 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finish to refresh operable walls in the conference room.

This installation features 3M™ Dichroic Blaze — a premium architectural glass finish designed to create an ever-changing colour shift depending on light, angle and environment.
