Did you know that in France, there is an unemployment support system that can provide financial assistance to eligible people who lose their jobs and are actively looking for new employment? The amount is generally linked to your previous earnings and the rules can allow support for an extended period. 👀

Today, we’re hearing about the system **first-hand from Melvyn**, a Motswana who studied and worked in France and has experienced life and the employment system abroad. 🇧🇼🇫🇷

We’re sharing his experience to give Batswana a better understanding of how these systems work in France and Europe. 🌍

🏃🏽‍♂️🇧🇼 This October, the United Nations in Botswana will be holding its annual 10KM and 5KM SDG Walk/Run!

But why are we walking and running? 🤔

It’s all about raising awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the global goals adopted by the UN to help make life better and create a more sustainable future by 2030under the Agenda 2030.

And this year, we’ll also be celebrating Botswana’s Diamond Jubilee 60 years of independence! 🇧🇼💎

So if you see us out on the road running this October, now you know… **we’re running for the SDGs! 😂🏃🏽‍♂️

Batswana youth, this one is for you!

To mark Botswana’s Diamond Jubilee and United Nations Day 2026 the United Nations in Botswana in collaboration with Aero is launching “Youth Voices for Botswana’s Future” a creative campaign inviting young people across the country to share their ideas, hopes and vision for Botswana’s future through original artwork, digital creations and photography. 🎨📸🇧🇼

We’ve partnered with the United Nations in Botswana to help spread the word and give young people a platform to have their voices heard.

Young women and men from all regions of Botswana, including persons with disabilities and youth from diverse communities, are encouraged to participate.

So whether you paint, draw, take photographs or create digital art this is your chance to show us the Botswana you envision.

🎉 We’re planning a FUN DAY at SOS Children’s Village!❤️🇧🇼

We want to spend a day simply having fun with the kids playing games, laughing, competing and making memories together. 🥳

We’re hoping to bring along things like Monopoly, chess, soccer balls, basketballs, tennis rackets, Ludo and other fun games so there’s something for everyone. ⚽🏀🎾♟️🎲

And of course… we want to finish it off with a PIZZA PARTY! 🍕😂Because who doesn’t love pizza?

I know during the holidays many of us travel back to our home villages to spend time with family. ❤️

But if you can spare even one holiday, consider spending a day at a children’s village instead. Come spend time with the kids, celebrate with them, talk to them, laugh with them and simply let them know that they are not forgotten.

As we celebrate our Independence, let’s remember that some of us have lost parents, but there are children who have lost both parents and yet they still find a way to smile. 🇧🇼❤️

You don’t always need money or anything big to make a difference. Sometimes, your time, your presence and a simple conversation can mean so much.

This holiday, let’s make room for them too. 🙏🏽🇧🇼

Today, we visited SOS Children’s Village in Tlokweng as part of a career guidance session organised by my Mount Zion Youth Fellowship

Cole, Cole Tiro Motlogelwa an attorney, and I, an engineer, were invited to speak to the kids about our career journeys from PSLE, to JC, to BGCSE the subjects we took, what we studied at university, and what it took to eventually qualify and enter our respective careers.

We’d love to make the next Career Fair even bigger and expose the kids to as many different career paths as possible.

So if you, or someone you know, is a doctor, engineer, lawyer, police officer, firefighter, pilot or works in any other profession and would be willing to come and speak to the children about your career journey, please comment below and we’ll reach out to you for the next Career Fair at SOS Children’s Village in Tlokweng.

Let’s talk about friends and the kind of influence they have on us.❤️

Today, my friend had an opportunity to perform for the President and also do an interview on a radio show, but he declined both because he was already scheduled to come and speak to the children here at SOS Children’s Village.

He told me, “It’s more important for me to come here and speak to these kids about their careers than to be famous on a radio show for one day.”

And honestly, I commend him for that. 👏🏽 Cole Tiro Motlogelwa

He even invited me to join him for this Career Day at SOS Children’s Village, and I’m glad I did. Sometimes, the things we do quietly can mean much more than the things that get us attention.

We all need friends who encourage us to do good, give back and make a difference not only friends who are always taking us to clubs and bars.

So tag a friend who is a good influence in your life or share this with someone who motivates you to do better.

Let’s all try to be that moral compass friend for someone else. ❤️🇧🇼
