Today I have a short poem for you. It goes like this:

In the hush of sawdust air,
Where quiet patience shapes its prayer,
A plank of oak, a slab of pine
Waits for steady hands and time.

The chisel sings a careful tune,
Soft as wind in late afternoon,
Each shaving curls, a whispered trace
Of timber’s age, of forest’s grace.

Grain like rivers, wild yet wise,
Maps of seasons fossilized,
Knots like stories, scars that speak
Of storms endured, of strength unique.

The hammer’s knock, a measured beat,
Heart and craft in rhythm meet,
While joints align with secret art
That binds the pieces, part to part.

No hurried work can ever last,
True forms grow slowly from the past,
For wood remembers every touch —
Too hard a grip, too slight, too much.

And when at last the work stands still,
Born of vision, mind, and will,
It breathes a warmth no steel can claim:
A living thing without a name.

For in that shop, both calm and worn,
Raw trees find new purpose born —
Not merely shaped, but understood,
Transformed by love, and time, and wood.
