Some of you may know that Lauren Waters was a cabinet maker before she decided to focus on water colours.
The same attention to capturing the feel of the northern mountain landscapes on paper were captured in wood marquetry.
Lauren occasionally decides to part with pieces from her private collection, and we are thrilled to have this little wood masterpiece!

We just got these 3 beautiful blown glass vases. All are by Tamara Aladin, Finnish glass designer from the mid 1960’s to early 1970’s, which was the peak of the new Scandinavian glass movement.

They are each approx 12” tall.

We just got in Peter Heebink’s book ‘Slogging North of 60’ … !! It’s quite phenomenal!
It chronicles 45 years of ski trips into the backcountry of Yukon, NWT, BC and Alaska..( including several starting or ending in Atlin) with maps, stories and tons of great photos !

The ‘official release’ will be in Whitehorse sometime in September…but available at Magpie now!

We got back mid week from a great visit with family in Ontario and went immediately into a busy holiday weekend ( in Yukon ) at Magpie and a crazy hot few days for the gardens and greenhouse ..
Now that we have come up for air, we want to thank our friends Sophie and Lauren profusely for looking after Magpie and the house, garden and dear Chava . It might have been the busiest few days of the summer at Magpie and Sophie handled it like a pro! ❤️

The gardens went wild and the house was cleaner than when we left ( that’s embarrassing! 😬🤣) and Chava barely acknowledged our return.
They were already in love with Atlin ( as you can see from Lauren’s beautiful watercolour paintings over the past few years) but now are completely smitten.

A zillion thanks!! 🙏😘
