Happy ❤️ Day!

Flip through to read our wedding manga! A 6 month labour of love, but every second was worth it.

When you make wedding stationery as a living, deciding on what to do for your own invitations was a daunting task. I had way too many ideas, saw too many trends on Pinterest and it felt it would be impossible to narrow down a final design.

I was meeting up with to catch up and share the news of my engagement. After telling them how Jerome proposed, Hasti suggested that I HAD to document my engagement story somehow...and suddenly, the light bulb appeared above my head. Jerome and I really like anime and manga. This theme was fitting.

My initial thought was just to create cute characters for us and do 1-3 pages like a standard invite suite. Never in a thousand years would I imagine that I would be creating a comic book instead. I became my toughest client with what seemed like the most demanding order!

But I'm so glad I listened to Hasti and powered through this. This was the perfect way to capture our story - all the details and small moments that made it ours. This is something so special and I will always pick it up and flip through the pages to relive the memories.

For those interested, I drew this digitally on my iPad with the app. Each page was 8.5x5.5. I initially wanted to colour in all the pages but time was not my friend. After cleaning up the illustrations and editing the text (thank you to my friends Kathy, Clara and Lisa for their help), I sent it in to for production. Winnie was amazing and guided me through the whole process.

Oh and of course (as if the manga book wasn't enough) I had to make two more invitation sets - will share those later!

Cafe de Amari - HK Cafe Bridal Shower ☕👰🏻❤️

It took a while for me to decide on a theme for the bridal shower. This is what happens when you like too many things 😅. But I knew I wanted to do a cafe theme, and we all know one of the best cafes in the world is the HK cafe. Growing up, my family and I went to The Boss in Chinatown every Sunday and I always look forward to getting an egg tart or a delicious red bean ice cream drink during the warmer months.

Once the theme was decided, I had so much fun creating the stationery! Here's some of the items I made

1. Cafe de Amari logo. I designed my Chinese name in the same style as the famous HK cafe restaurant. IYKYK.

2. Custom magnets as favours. Hand drawn illustrations of classic food items, cut out with the Cricut machine.

3. Cards for the guests to leave me notes. I designed it to be like a classic restaurant paper bill.

4. Menus that doubled as place mats (often seen in HK cafes)

5. Props cut out of foam board for the photo area. I used the same magnet designs and made them bigger for props

6. Food signage for photo area decor.

It was a lot of work, but it was fun work, especially when you are excited in the theme. So brides, pick a theme that you REALLY like, not just because it's a trending idea. You will enjoy the process so much more - Amari ❤️

Ever since we started this IG page, we've shared and celebrated the wedding days of our clients...and finally we are sharing Amari's big day! ❤️👰🏻🧑🏻‍⚕️ This was why we were a bit quiet on instagram last year - planning a wedding is no joke! One of our favorite things is getting photos back from a wedding. Even though stationery may be sometimes small, it is mighty. It provides important information to the guests and helps with the flow of the wedding day. It's these necessary details that tie everything together in the end. Congratulations to B + A. It was a day to remember ❤️

It's been a while since I've whipped out the phone to post something here! Oh boy, I've missed all the holiday and new years greetings and more!! Sorry for our short absence but we are still here:). I promise I had a good reason to be a bit MIA last year.. hopefully can share more soon!
