L'Oriental L’oriental is a newly-founded company located in Calgary, Canada dedicated for oriental home decorations. As civilisation expanded, the use of rugs spread.

stery of the Orient its ancient history and its art, its Culture and its religions, are all embodied in one simple beautiful household item - the Oriental rug (kilim). The origin of rugs (kilims) and carpets can be traced to the beginning of civilisation itself. The first known oriental rugs (kilims) came from Egypt among other places like Persia and Turkey. As early civilisation learned to spin cotton and wool, the use of these fibres found their way into the weaving of rugs as well as clothes. The walls of Egyptian tombs more than 3,000 years old show pictures of rugs (kilims) as well as pictures of them while weaving the rugs (kilims). The great Egyptian Queen Cleopatra actually presented herself to Caesar rolled up inside a carpet! Egyptian rugs, particularly those woven in Cairo during the 16th and 17th centuries, are some of the most beautiful rugs (kilims) ever woven given their unique and lively colourful palette and ancient design motifs.
