I just finished my appointment with Dr. Tang at the London Cardiac Institute. He was exceptional in explaining everything that is currently going on with my heart failure.
Apparently my QRS duration is widening and is now abnormal. I’m at 133 milliseconds, which is worse than it was when I was first diagnosed in 2018 with Congestive heart failure.
I also have a Bundle Branch Block that is affecting both my right and my left lower heart chambers. This affects the electrical activity going to my heart that controls my heart beating. The left and the right are beating out of sync. This is causing my heart failure to worsen and my ejection fractions to decrease.

I’ll be receiving a CRT-D (pacemaker and defibrillator) within the next few weeks. The surgery itself is done as day surgery and only local anesthesia. It’ll be interesting to see/hear what is going on. Then it’ll be adjusting….again. Different meds, etc. and approximately 4-6 weeks recovery.

Really glad I live in Canada! This would cost $80-$100K in the states!
I’d asked Dr. Tang if he was able to get me an Iron Man chest insert? Not sure why he laughed 😝

What does this all mean? Right now, I’m struggling a lot to do simple things. Going up stairs, walking, standing, breathing, talking…things we all take for granted…absolutely depletes me. I’m spending a lot of time sitting or in bed resting. And it’s driving me crazy!!!!!

I’m also not sure how this is going to affect my pottery…which is my livelihood and my only income. And my mental health therapy 🥺. This all truly scares me.

Thank you to my superfantabulous hubby, John , for offering to run The Shoppe this Saturday, May 30 from 10-2.

We are still running The Shoppe by appointment only and on the occasional Saturday. And it’s full of pottery, fused glass, jewellery, and River Vibes apparel.

I’m still taking things easy. I get exhausted very quickly and easily. Who knew that just talking could be so tiring?!?! 😵‍💫

I’m so excited to finally reveal this!!!! My daughter and her hubby are celebrating their first wedding anniversary tomorrow. I made this vase especially for them 🫶🏼
And Emma created this beautiful arrangement. Emma had made the bouquets for the wedding and did something similar for this arrangement. I’m in love 🩷🩵

A few months ago, I made this teapot.
A few weeks ago, I got around to glazing it.
Today, I finally took pictures of it!

As soon as this emerged from Bernice, it was quickly nabbed. My superfantabulous hubby decided it belonged to him!!! And since he does so much for me? I was happy to oblige 🤗🫶🏼

Maybe by slowing down, I’ll be able to make more pottery that takes a lot more work. 🤔☺️

I’ve been taking things easy and doing a lot of resting. Confused? See my previous post 🩵

I managed to finish a few pieces of pottery that I had made for myself. Including this pretty planter.

My houseplants are happy that I’m paying attention to them. 🫶🏼🩵

Well folks…my cardiologist appointment the other day did not go as I hoped. 🥺

My ejection fraction for my heart has decreased to 28%. Long story short…November 2018…I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure with an EF of less than 18%! But with medication and a healthy lifestyle? I was able to increase it to 49%.

However, the past year…it has declined significantly. Despite increasing meds, etc. I’ve been feeling absolutely exhausted all the time and my stamina is pretty meagre. Just doing simple tasks weakens me unbelievably!

My cardiologist is arranging for me to receive a defibrillator asap. And the recovery time is approximately 4-6 weeks. This is, as a dear heart sister said to me, “Pretty straight forward surgery, I was awake for mine. Then you can rest assured that you have a “backup generator “ incase the lights go out. That’s how I look at it lol.”

But I am absolutely devastated and scared because we have no idea why my heart is literally failing. I have to do everything I can to make the best of what I have and rest when I really need to.

So I’ve decided that I need to reevaluate my life and work. Pottery is very labour intensive! I have been absolutely exhausted creating the amount of pottery I’ve been making!!! Now I know why 😵‍💫

I am going to do some restructuring on what I’m able to make…and set strong boundaries for myself.

For the next few months, The Shoppe WILL NOT be open every Saturday. It’s going to be by appointment only. There will still be pottery and fused glass creations available. But I’ll be phasing out my River Vibes apparel. I just can’t do it all.

I’ll be doing a clearance sale on River Vibes apparel very soon. Stay tuned.

When my plant eating ginger cat, Sheamus, chewed off a sprig of lilacs I had on the counter…I needed a small vase to put them in. This wee vase took on a whole new meaning when I put the sprig in it!!!!

I just had to take a picture but the background was just too cluttered. Then…my curious tuxedo Mr Mistofelees saved the day!!!!

This has been what I’ve been doing for the past week…sleeping and trying to get over yet another respiratory virus!! This is the fourth plague since Christmas that I’ve had!!!

I usually never get sick. But both John and I have been plagued 🦠🦠

For me, it’s even more difficult because of my heart failure. I have even less energy on top of low energy which leaves me with no energy!

It has given me a lot of time to be retrospective about my body and mental health. But, more about that in another post.

And when John is feeling better? He’s going to give Bernice a makeover…new elements, thermocouples, and a vent blower.
