The annual Craft Ontario Awards recognize excellence and celebrate accomplished and dedicated practitioners in the field of craft and design. I am thrilled to announce that I am one of this year’s 2026 award recipients, and hope you will join me in celebrating this humbling achievement.
The works of the award winners will be shared in the upcoming months through the Craft Award Talks and the Craft Award Recipient Exhibition!

The exhibition will be on view from October 16 - November 14 at the Craft Ontario Gallery location, 401 Richmond St West, Suite 108, Toronto

“Reconciliation”
[Part of the Fracture Lines Collection]

Smoke-fired Raku clay; Wild foraged clay for Terra Sigillatas; Invasive plant materials; Found and discarded metals and minerals.

This vessel carries the memory of place.

Its surface holds wild clays I personally harvested by canoe along the Yukon River, alongside clay gifted to me by Indigenous leaders of The Long Ago People’s Place—an honour I hold with profound gratitude and humility.

Within its fractured surface are layers of story: Tutchone First Nations knowledge of the land, my lived experience as a settler, and a shared responsibility to care for Turtle Island. The vessel becomes a meeting place between these experiences—not to speak for one another, but to acknowledge the relationships, histories, and responsibilities that connect us.

Smoke firing deepens this dialogue, transforming earth, fire, air, and time into a surface that cannot be entirely controlled. The marks left behind become evidence of process, place, and change.

Rocks are not just rocks. They are the Earth’s memory keepers—holding chemistry, history, and the conditions that sustain life.

Through clay, I seek to listen, remember, and participate in acts of reconciliation in action—where art becomes a way of honouring place, relationship, and responsibility.

Found some little treasures hiding away in storage - DM if interested in :
•the vase - exposed speckled stoneware exterior and rutile blue interior

•the utensil crock and spoon rest (aka, big vase and side plate) - robins egg blue and exposed buff stoneware exterior.

I’m driven not just by what the land has to offer that I can repurpose to make art, but also by how I can have a beneficial impact on the environment in which I live.

In these pictures are Knotweed, harvested from within 1km of my home, at a roadside patch where this highly invasive plant is taking over our riverbank. The bees love its blossoms - that come as a welcome late nectar source with the goldenrod flow.
And now…I have learned to strip its bark and weave with it! Stoked! 💪

Meet “Invasive Basketry”:
‘weaving hope for a world made by hand, where humans have not just a neutral, but a beneficial impact on place. It is a vision of a future where we are connected to our land base, able to identify the plants growing around us and the many ways we can use them for health and wellbeing. It’s a call to work with rather than against the natural world, adapting and responding to its ever-changing realities. Invasive Basketry is an invitation to remember the brilliant techniques our ancestors developed to meet our needs in place, without over-stripping the natural resources available, and to develop new ones, appropriate to our age.
It is an alchemical process, where we transform invasive plants into useful, beautiful vessels’ ~

Peony Crown

Willow- ‘Acutifolia’, ‘Straw’ and ‘Packing Twine’.

Made this brilliant little structure today to help keep my peony a little more supported and perhaps a little more aesthetically pleasing than the tomato cage it had before ♥️

I’m pretty chuffed about this . I made it from a mix of the willow I grew last year and some that I purchased from the incredible . Inspired by the work of . Our weaving community in Ontario kicks ass.
