Janet Taylor Art

Janet Taylor Art Visual stories of peace and connection, by Toronto artist Janet Taylor. No NFTs. Slowly each work accumulates meaning, history and texture.

All of my work draws from my close observations of our physical world: I wander endlessly, aimlessly, in the woods, gaze at the changing sky, or watch the mesmeric movement of water, and I am filled with a sense of world. The colours, lines, shapes and gestures that express the memories of these moments of observation become my language. Working in acrylic and graphite, or sometimes digitally, I e

xplore our connections with the natural world and each other, layering memories of nature and personal experience. Always, I am trying to connect the vibrance, texture and calm energy of nature with our everyday lives.

I’m so grateful to be on the Longlist for the Women United Art Prize for 2025. This is my second year in a row to be honoured by this amazing organization—it does so much to help and promote women artists, including this annual international prize. A huge thank you to this year’s jury for including me, and the for all you do. 🖤

A warm thanks to everyone that came out to listen to our Artists’ Talk on Saturday. It’s always so fun to have an engaged audience, and the lively and lengthy Q&A after was a real bonus. If you couldn’t make the talk, I’ll be sending out a text version of my remarks this week. DM me to be added to my list for that email.

This week! The Toronto edition of Making Our Mark opens on Thursday night at Leslie Grove Gallery (.ca .ca), 1158 Queen St E, Toronto. This is the second show by this name that and and myself have held. Each of the three of us work with abstraction to explore both our inner and outer landscapes. Starting from similar premises, and with similar approaches to process, we end up with three very different expressions. We invite you to explore the visual conversation between these three bodies of work. Mark your calendar to join us at the opening this Thursday from 6-8. I’d love to see you there!
