Making the most of our AGO season passes with a visit to the ‘Monet to Matisse’ exhibition today.

The Windmill towards the end is by Mondrian, his earlier work is very different from the bold geometric compositions that everyone is more familiar with. My photo doesn’t do it justice but the colours perfectly capture the dusky mood of a sunset.

So many other pieces by the likes of Monet, Van Gogh, Caillebotte, Cassatt, Cezane, Degas and more.

It’s a very different experience these days when you have to dodge the Instagrammers who need multiple photos of themselves in front of the artwork with little regard for the actual art and more emphasis on how their hair looks.

This is where I should have a pinned post with a photo of me and blurb about my business, the services I offer and how you can work with me.

This isn’t a place where I’m looking to gain a huge following or gain so much work I’m overwhelmed. It’s a place to share things I’ve seen, things I’ve done or places I’ve been. Things to hopefully inspire, things that show what makes me tick, how I see the world, places I’ve discovered and want to share, maybe even help you to see the world around you from a different perspective.

Most of my work is through word of mouth and that keeps me busy. It also allows me the opportunity to build longstanding relationships with clients.
Relationships spanning many years, clients that reach out at different life stages, upsizing, downsizing or when their kids buy their first homes. They don’t necessarily want their homes and personal space online and that’s fine.

There’s so much pressure that everything needs to be perfect and magazine worthy and that’s just not real life. People are busy living their lives rather than documenting it as content. They want homes that reflect them, work for their families and give them a sense of peace and comfort. Homes that honour the age or architecture of the structure or beautifully encapsulate family treasures.

I’m not here to gate keep information or earn from affiliate links. If a friend tells me they’ve helped their sister choose paint colours she loves because I taught them about undertones then that’s a win.

What you will find is art, design, architecture, the occasional aesthetic coffee or meal, beautiful places, photos of colourful things and snippets of my work projects. Having said all that, if you would like to work with me though I’d love to hear from you.

I thought I’d try a carousel post this time with a few shots around the beautiful fishing village where it feels like time has stood still. In a world that seems increasingly noisy these moments of tranquility are hard to find.

An exercise in colour extraction using one of my photos. This mosaic technique is a simple tip I just picked up from . I knew my obsession with buoys and lobster pots in Nova Scotia would pay off.

A site visit today to catch up on the latest stage of this project. This architecturally interesting period home is full of eclectic and characterful pieces, a true reflection of the home owners and their family.

We gave a new lease of life to both the sofa and this pretty accent chair. The 25 yr old sofa has such a good solid frame but was in need of new cushions and slip covers. The chair just needed a little TLC to the seat padding and a fresh new fabric to complement the sofa update.
