About Me — And Why I Started Harbour & Stem

Hi, I’m Jane.

For nearly 30 years, my professional life has been rooted in crisis response and high-intensity work. I’ve built a career around showing up when things are difficult — holding steady, offering support, and standing firm in uncertain moments.

It’s work that has shaped me deeply.

But over time, I began to recognize the need for balance — for something creative, restorative, and slower in rhythm. Something that allowed me not just to respond, but to build.

Plants became that shift.

There is something grounding about tending to living things. Watching roots form in water. Seeing new growth emerge without urgency. Being reminded that strength can be quiet, and growth can be steady.

Harbour & Stem grew from that realization.

This shop is a creative extension of who I am — a space where I curate plants, propagations, and plant- and nature-inspired goods with intention. Some offerings are soft and steady. Others are sculptural and special. Each one is selected because it feels aligned — calm, thoughtful, and made for real homes.

This isn’t a departure from my life’s work.
It’s an expansion of it.
