We decided not to waste our last morning in Koln. First stop was Jlöcklich il caffè felice for a flat white and a pistachio coronato. Then we set off walking with no destination in mind. Just like yesterday, we managed to stumble across something epic. It was a huge vintage market. Unfortunately here everything is super expensive so we didn’t buy anything but we really enjoyed browsing. Now we are back at the train station and heading towards Frankfurt to catch our plane home tomorrow.

Today was a walkie day. Since it is Saturday the Cologne Cathedral are is BANANAS. Thankfully we spent all day there yesterday so today we walked in the opposite direction and stumbled across the Flora Köln botanical gardens. We walked around the beautiful grounds for around 2 hours and it was FREE. We also enjoyed an amazing coffee this morning at Jlöcklich il caffè felice , bought a few souvenirs, ate streusel for dinner and caught the cathedral in great light. Tomorrow we head back to Frankfurt and then home on Monday. It’s been a great trip.

Jet lag kicked my butt. I only slept 2 hours Wednesday night. Tired? Let’s climb a tower! We visited the Cologne Cathedral, Treasury and the South Tower. 533 steps later we were treated to a lovely view with a cool breeze. Definitely worth it but would have been easier with sleep. We have really enjoyed walking around and gawking at everything while entering every open church we pass. Would definitely return to Cologne.

We made it to Cologne! Our train ride was a tad bit late but still super quick at just over an hour. We got checked into our hotel and hit the streets. We were too late to get to go in to the Cathedral but we can’t wait to go back tomorrow. We did lots of walking and checked out many market squares. All are full of people and outdoor dining. Love it so far!

Guten Morgen! This is our last morning in Frankfurt. We head to Cologne (Koln) this afternoon on the train. Yesterday we explored Romerberg and old town after spending some quality time at the US Embassy. If all goes well (which there is no indication it will not), Evan and I are now Canadian citizens only. After around 20,000 steps, we visited a vegan restaurant for dinner. My dish was a peanut sauce dish with vegan duck. I quite enjoyed it tho there was way more duck than I could eat.

Now for coffee, lunch and then new adventures in Koln!

Today and yesterday were one very long day. It is currently almost 7 pm Tuesday in Frankfurt and I have been up since around 9am Monday in Calgary. Our flight got into Frankfurt early and our hotel did not have a room for us. So we explored a bit, visited at least 4 ATMs before finding one that would work and visited the Städel Museum . After we checked into our room and headed to Henninger am Turm Brauhaus for dinner. We enjoyed some schnitzel and spaetzle and now we are calling it a night. I might make it another hour but I doubt it.

We spent our last day on the island north of Sooke. We visited French Beach and Sandcut Beach. We were a bit late for tide pools but the beaches were beautiful regardless. We really like Sandcut with its waterfalls and the gorgeous walk through the forest to get there.

We collected rocks, watched the birds and did lots of walking. I even made a rock and seaweed lady. We can’t wait to go back.

Another great visit to Salt Spring Island, this time with Nicole and Eric. We dined at Tree House Cafe while listening to live music, walked to Salt Spring Wild Cider and enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Cassette Cafe and Dive Bar | Salt Spring Island . We also hit all the thrift stores in Ganges. It was great to slow down a bit and explore while anchored for two nights instead of rushing to hit the next island. Today we are headed back to our marina in Sidney to wrap up our last few days. I can’t wait to see Evan and the pups but BC has definitely stolen my heart.
