October 14 — Apple
🍎 Ingredient Spotlight Wednesday: Apple 🍎

Soft, comforting, and familiar, apple is one of those ingredients that instantly brings a cozy-home feeling to a simmer pot blend.

At Northern Cottage, dried apple slices are used in several blends and pair beautifully with cinnamon, cloves, orange, and other warm seasonal ingredients.

Apple is often loved for its gentle, comforting scent and the nostalgic feeling it can bring to a room — warm kitchens, cooler days, and cozy evenings at home.

Each ingredient is carefully chosen, washed, sliced, dehydrated, and packaged by hand right here by me.

🌿 MINUTE MONDAY — Do I need a special pot for a simmer pot?

Nope!

You can use a regular saucepan or stock pot on the stove, or even a small slow cooker.

Add your simmer blend and water, warm gently and let the fragrance fill your home. Just remember to check the water regularly and never allow your pot to boil dry.

Simple really is best. 🤎

Today I finished dehydrating the apples. 37 pouches of simmer blends filled and sealed. 7 holiday Simmer Sample boxes put together. Joining Ollie, Chief Nap Officer, for a short nap on the couch.

Then it’s time to clean bathrooms, wash floors, clean kitchen, make beds AND make bread. Phew!😮‍💨

🐾 Employee of the Month? Not Quite! 😂

Another busy day at Northern Cottage, and apparently Ollie has decided he’s worked hard enough!

While I’m busy filling orders, dehydrating fruit and developing new products, our Chief Nap Officer is hard at work… testing the blankets! 💤🤣

The pay is great, the naps are unlimited, and productivity is questionable!

Good help is so hard to find! 😂❤️
