Why Candle-Making Temperature Matters
Temperature plays an important role in candle making. Getting the temperature right helps your wax, fragrance, and finished candle perform at their best.
1. Melting Temperature
Your wax needs to be completely melted before moving on to the next step. Always follow the temperature range recommended by your wax supplier to ensure the wax is properly prepared.
2. Fragrance-Adding Temperature
Adding fragrance at the wrong temperature can affect how well it binds with the wax and may impact the final scent throw. Follow your fragrance and wax supplier’s recommendations for the ideal temperature.
3. Pouring Temperature
Pouring your wax when it is too hot or too cool can contribute to issues such as rough tops, frosting, sinkholes, or poor adhesion. The right pouring temperature can help you achieve a smoother, more consistent finish.
💡 TIP
Always start with the temperature recommendations provided by your wax and fragrance suppliers. Then, test and adjust your formula as needed—every wax, fragrance, container, and environment can behave differently.
Remember: Great candles aren't just about the ingredients. Temperature + technique + testing matter, too!
