We are so excited to welcome her to our Merid family and are making plans for how she can be enjoyed by our guests and customers! But we need a name for her!!! Aaron and Heather Warrington have nurtured their love for the land at Wanna Creek Ranch near Loverna, SK, for over two decades. Wanna Creek Ranch is a mixed cattle and crop operation, with a main emphasis on cattle. They manage a herd of primarily commercial Maine-Anjou and Hereford cows, alongside a cherished selection of purebred Maine-Anjous. In 2021, the ranch welcomed a delightful addition, Jemima the Highland cow, fulfilling a lifelong dream for Heather. Jemima, a beautiful and spirited cow, has brought immense joy and a touch of sass to Wanna Creek Ranch and there are now four purebred Highlands at Wanna Creek. Aaron, the driving force behind the ranch, is deeply committed to the stewardship of his land and livestock. He tirelessly works in all conditions to ensure the welfare of the land and animals, even incorporating practices like cover cropping to enhance soil health. Heather also has a local studio called Abundant Heart Wellness where she offers in-person and online Guided Meditation/AFT sessions and cultivates her creativity through practices such as painting and photography. Aaron, Heather, and their children are profoundly grateful to uphold a cherished legacy that blends love, duty, and the timeless tradition of farming.

REDESIGNED: When I saw these two 1960’s oak file trays I just knew they would make awesome end tables! I mean, look at those gorgeous finger joints ❤️!!!!) We added more oak under each tray for extra strength and finished them up with some oak trim where the new and old wood joined. Then they were sanded down and stained a dark cappuccino color (I avoided the walnut stains as it tended to turn the wood a slight green/yellow hue). Once the stain was done, and I allowed the pieces to dry for 4 days (when using an oil based stain such as I did, you need to allow your piece to dry thoroughly before you apply a water based product for a top coat). Several coats of a water based poly were applied and then the gorgeous hairpin legs added❤️ Sturdy but light weight.

These were for sale in and soon after were SOLD. Thank you Lois for your purchase! We hope you enjoy them!

To find us … between Marengo and Alsask on highway 7 you’ll see the Merid road sign and the Merid and Magna Historic Retreat sign. Turn onto Merid Road and the Mercantile is located in the second yardsite on your left. Hope to see you then!

It’s taken us a few days to try to find the words that would adequately express the deep and profound feeling of appreciation we have. Last Sunday/Mothers Day grand opening of Merid Mercantile and open house for Merid and Magna Historic Retreat was so amazing we’re still in shock! It was 4 hours of feeling loved, appreciated, celebrated and encouraged. Whether you were able to attend in person, sent messages or called us, each of you have left us feeling that our dreams to create spaces “in the middle of nowhere” is actually “in the middle of the best community anywhere”❤️
