I have a trip to see my mama coming up... so naturally I decided I needed to make a new travel bag. 😅🧵

Because apparently buying one would have been far too simple.

This is the Cargo Duffel 2 by Noodlehead for Robert Kaufman, and let me tell you... this project definitely tested my skills.

The quilting and straps were pretty straightforward, but the pockets challenged me a bit, especially since I decided to add magnetic snaps that weren't part of the pattern. And zippers? Let's just say we're still getting acquainted. 😂

There were definitely a few moments where I questioned my life choices.

But that's also what made it so rewarding.

Every project that pushes us a little outside our comfort zone teaches us something new, and this one taught me a lot.

Now all that's left is to pack it and head out on my adventure.

And honestly, I'm a little bit in love with how it turned out. 🥰

Nobody panic.

There was fabric.
There was measuring.
There was at least one moment where I questioned my life choices.

But so far we're moving in the right direction 😅

A couple weeks ago I made those little keychain card holders… and then my brain immediately went:

“Okay but what if it had a matching wristlet?” 😅🪡

Because apparently I’ve entered my “everything needs coordinating accessories” era now 🌻🐝✨

Honestly though?
I kind of love how these turned out.

Tiny projects like this have been such a fun way to learn new sewing techniques without immediately launching myself into a full creative crisis over some giant complicated project 😂

Plus there’s something deeply satisfying about making useful little everyday things with your own hands.

Also let’s be honest…
the sunflower + bee fabric combination still has me completely emotionally attached ☕️🐝🌻

Next up in the “things I apparently started mass producing once I learned how” collection 😅🪡✨

Keychain card holders.

Because apparently my sewing journey lately has been:
✨ tiny projects
✨ tiny seams
✨ tiny moments of confidence
✨ and tiny emotional breakdowns over topstitching ☕️😂

Honestly though?
I love these little things.

They’re simple, useful, satisfying to make, and somehow make me feel wildly accomplished every time I finish one.

Also there’s something deeply dangerous about realizing you can make your own functional everyday things now.

Because suddenly my brain is out here like:
“Okay but what if we made one in EVERY fabric combination?” 👀

Sewing really is just arts and crafts mixed with engineering and occasional chaos.

And honestly?
That seems very on brand for me 😅

Next up in my “apparently I collect new sewing skills now” era 😅🪡✨

This little hot pad was another project I learned at the sewing retreat earlier this month, taught by one of the lovely ladies there.

And honestly?
The fact that fabric folds can somehow turn into THIS still feels mildly illegal to me 😂

I had never made one before, and there were definitely a few moments where I was staring at the pieces thinking,
“I’m sure this is either going to become a hot pad… or a very confusing fabric pancake.” ☕️

But then suddenly it all came together and my brain did that magical little:
✨ OH. I GET IT NOW. ✨

I swear sewing has me experiencing approximately 47 tiny identity crises and breakthroughs per project lately 😅

But honestly, I’m loving every minute of learning.

Also can we appreciate how satisfying those folded points are? Because I have stared at this thing an unreasonable amount since finishing it 😂

Current sewing realization: I apparently look at fabric now and immediately go,
“What tiny unnecessarily complicated thing can I turn this into?” 😅🪡

This wallet was one of those projects.

The first photo is the fabric before I started cutting into it, and the next photos are the finished piece ✨

And honestly?
Watching flat fabric slowly turn into something structured and functional still feels a little bit like sorcery to me.

This project had:
✨ zippers
✨ pockets
✨ hardware
✨ moments of confidence
✨ moments of “respectfully… what on earth am I doing?” ☕️

But I learned so much making it.

And I think that’s my favorite part of this whole sewing journey lately…
seeing myself slowly go from intimidated by projects like this to actually figuring them out one step at a time.

Also let’s just acknowledge that these fabrics were fully enabling my “sunflowers and bees cure at least 37% of life’s problems” aesthetic 🌻🐝😂

Next up in the “things I’ve been quietly making while hiding from the internet” series 😅🪡✨

This landscape quilt was made earlier this month at a 3 day sewing retreat, where one of the incredibly talented ladies there taught a landscape quilting class.

And let me tell you…
this was VERY outside my normal creative comfort zone 😂

I’ve never made anything like this before, and there were definitely moments where my brain fully short-circuited and I just sat there thinking,
“What in the Bob Ross meets engineering project is happening right now?” ☕️

But honestly?
I learned so much.

New techniques.
New ways of layering fabric.
New ways of seeing texture and movement.
And apparently… I really enjoy turning fabric into tiny dramatic landscapes 😅

It was challenging, a little brain-bending, and so much fun all at the same time.

And honestly, I think that’s becoming my favorite part of sewing lately…
being a beginner again.

Not always graceful.
Occasionally confused.
But constantly learning ✨

Current sewing hyperfixation: tiny projects with suspicious amounts of personality 😅🪡

This little cutie is called the Shanti Pouch by and honestly, I think I’m slightly obsessed.

One thing I’ve realized while learning how to sew is that small projects are kind of perfect for learning new techniques without immediately emotionally spiraling into a giant complicated project 😂

So lately I’ve been:
✨ practicing zippers
✨ learning new construction methods
✨ figuring out interfacing
✨ muttering “well THAT was humbling” at my sewing machine
✨ and making tiny bags apparently like it’s my full-time job

And honestly?
I’ve been having so much fun with it.

This one feels very “sunflower field meets chaotic craft goblin” and I support that energy completely 🌻🐝🧵

Also… I fear this may be the beginning of my “making pouches in every possible fabric combination” era.

Nobody stop me. Or do. Honestly it may already be too late 😂

Now that I’ve finally explained where I vanished to for the last year, I realized something…

I never actually shared most of what I’ve been making while learning how to sew 👀

And honestly?
Some of these projects deserve their moment 😂

So here’s a little roundup of some of the things I’ve made just in the last month. Over the next few days, I’ll post them one at a time so you can see the details a little closer.

There have been wins.
There have been mistakes.
There have been moments where I confidently cut fabric wrong and then just stood there staring at it like the fabric had personally betrayed me ☕️
