Based in Montreal, photographer Nik Mirus is known for staging objects of desire against bold, saturated backdrops. In his commercial work, the newest cosmetics and fashion pieces are elevated into luminous icons, photographed with a precision and sensuality designed to seduce, to spark want, to sell a dream.
Yet beyond the glossy surface, Mirus’ personal practice turns its gaze toward the quiet aftermath of consumption. Discarded packaging, weathered construction materials and obsolete tools become his unlikely muses, fragments of a culture driven by novelty and left behind just as quickly. Through these humble remnants, he reflects on what lingers once the thrill of acquisition fades, revealing a poetic tension between aspiration and abandonment, excess and emptiness.
