My account is about art, process, exhibitions and the work I create. But art is born from life defined by my existence as a
Today I underwent a after years of living with symptoms that never felt right. Pain, anemia, fatigue and the persistent feeling that something in my body was asking to be heard. Despite previous tests and investigations, a very large fibroid remained undetected until my procedure. Part of it was removed, and over the coming months I will continue treatment before the next stage of care.
I don’t share this because I have all the answers. My journey isn’t over.
I share it because women’s health matters. I want to scream from the top of my lungs to every woman on this planet, to listen - listen deeply - to your body. Too often, women are told discomfort, exhaustion, heavy bleeding, pain or feeling “off” is simply something to accept. Sometimes it is dismissed as stress, age, hormones or just part of life.
But we know our bodies, ladies. If something doesn’t feel right, keep asking questions. Seek help. Advocate for yourself. Request another opinion if you need one. Persistence is not being difficult, it is caring for yourself. My friend taught me this.
This experience does not define me. It is simply one chapter of being human. One chapter of learning to listen more closely, trust myself more deeply and honour the body that carries me through life.
If sharing this encourages even one woman to seek answers, ask for help or feel less alone in her experience, then it is worth sharing. To my entire following and beyond - take care of yourselves. Your health matters. Your voice matters. And you deserve to be heard. 💙
