A couple weeks back we talked about one of my favourite herbs (Lavender - Lavandula Angustifolia), now we must shed the spotlight on my all time favourite; Sage (Salvia Officinalis), like Frank’s I “put that sh*t on everything”. Sage has its history dating back centuries and was widely used in healing. In mediaeval Europe, Sage was used to strengthen memory and promote wisdom.
Any herb given the name “officinalis” is widely recognized as having significant medicinal benefits. Added to this fact Sage’s very name means “salvation” or “to heal”.

Goddess Teacup will be commonly using Sage in our up and coming “Moon Cycle” tincture, salves and infused honey.
A special note from your local Green Witch and Herbalist; please do not confuse Common Sage (talked about above) with White Sage. White Sage is a very sacred herb that should be given the upmost respect. We will share the wonder that is White Sage in another post.
**Sage should be avoided if breastfeeding as it reduces breast milk production. If you’re looking at drying up your supply, a Sage Tonic is a wonderfully soothing go to. Avoid taking high amounts of Sage (especially if you are prone to seizures); I would limit consumption of sage tea to 3-6 days a day. Always consult a healthcare professional when adding new supplements to your diet. Goddess Teacup is always willing to answer any of your questions.
