We’re proud to share that La Bella Vita has been named a finalist in the 2026 GOHBA (Greater Ottawa Home Builders' Association) Housing Design Awards in the Condo or Rental Apartment Suite (801–1,500 sq. ft.) category.
With retirement just around the corner, our homeowners were ready to leave suburban living behind and embrace downtown life. Their 1980s rental unit, however, was in need of a transformation.
Having previously completed several renovations for the homeowners, our design team set out to create a home that embraced Mid-Century Modern influences with a distinctly contemporary feel: open, light-filled, sophisticated and comfortable.
The kitchen was opened up by removing non-structural walls, creating more visual space, improved lighting and additional counter space. Custom walnut and white lacquer cabinetry brings warmth and refinement while maximizing storage and functionality within the constraints of condo living.
Throughout the home, warm walnut, brushed brass and marble finishes create a cohesive sense of sophistication. Oversized black doors, bold walls and a warehouse-inspired glass office enclosure add a contemporary edge while paying homage to the home’s Mid-Century Modern roots.
The result is a striking transformation designed around the homeowners’ next chapter; proof that great design doesn’t go out of style; it evolves with the people who live in it.
We’ll find out how La Bella Vita places at the 43rd GOHBA Housing Design Awards Gala on November 7.
Stay tuned.
