TasteCentrik Beginnings
Almost 2 years ago I found out my wife was pre-diabetic. We made the decision to go keto as a way of managing my wife’s blood sugars. Of course, this meant radically changing our lifestyle from one that was low fat, high carb to one that is high fat, low carb. It was hard to wrap our brains around that kind of change when we had been conditioned to think that fat was the enemy but we have come to realize that sugar/carbs are in fact the real enemy. We could not have made a better decision! My wife’s blood sugars are stable and we have lost nearly 100 lbs between us! My main goal was to make sure I was making good low carb foods for my wife to take with her to mine site as she works out of province for weeks at a time and has limited options for low carb foods to eat. As I began to share my new lifestyle with friends and co-workers, I came to realize that there is a lot of interest for low carb food options that are not readily available to buy locally. It was at this point that I thought it might be a good idea to make these foods available for others who perhaps don’t have the time or ability to make them for themselves. So we conceived TasteCentrik as a option for low carbers out there to be able to get some of the foods they’ve been missing without the investment of time, effort and money needed to make them.
