Painting is funny, where you start isn’t ever where you finish. It’s intriguing to think each layer can be so similar then looking at the beginning and end pictures it proves how different they really are. Those subtle shifts in colour and detail in each layer really bring this scene to life.
And an artist, pet lover and fisherman myself, I love how this turned out. Just the right amount of calm and warmth you’d expect on a beautiful evening by the water.

For me, it’s a pencil or brush then hours of creating layer upon layer, fine tuning details and balancing colours/shades. It’s intriguing, challenging and exciting all in one, with the goal to create something unique.
For you, it’s the emotion and memories captured with what words can’t always explain. It might be a gift, a decor or memorial, but it’s from the heart.

‘The Invitation” was a challenging and satisfying picture all at once to create. The technique of using coloured pencil and achieving a realism look is not for the faint hearted. I quit several times and even came close to throwing this in the garbage but the persistence was well worth it.
