** New Sketch & Coloured Pencil tutorial **

Black-capped Chickadee

Today we're upping our game and reaching for actual art supplies, rather than our pen and scrap paper. I know you're up for it, so don't panic. You'll need;
- pencil and eraser
- black Micron pen (I'm using a 01)
- coloured pencils (I'm using my new Woomer 72s)
- mixed media paper 98lbs

If you have none of the above, the lesson is still worthy though your results will differ a tad. Grab some coloured pencils, scrap paper, a black pen and follow along anyway. Your brain will thank you for the effort of doing something new and challenging.

Testing those free Woomer Colored Pencils 72

So yesterday I messed around on different types of paper, testing out my free Woomer Colored Pencils. Then last night I did this rose-breasted grosbeak on mixed media paper. I was really happy with the results and I'm looking forward to working with these pencils, which got me thinking about the videos I'd like to do over the next little while for my Sketch & Coloured Pencil series. I've decided that we'll focus on sketching out the bird in pencil, inking him in using Micron pen, erasing the pencil, then switching over to coloured pencil to bring him to life. If you're up for the challenge, arm yourself with;
- a pencil
- an eraser
- a Micron pen (or something similar). I'll be using a Micron 01

** New sketching tutorial **

Pine Warbler

Today we're spending a bit more time with our coloured pencils than our pen. At least, that's the plan. We'll sketch out a little pine warbler then switch to our yellow and black coloured pencils to shade him in. We'll revert to our black ink pen to add depth where needed. What could go wrong? This painting thing is no simple matter, and I feel it's important for you to see that I'm struggling with the learning process, maybe more than you are.
