Designing a fireplace media wall? Plan the fireplace size, TV size and seated viewing height together—before framing, wood finishing or TV mounting.

🔥 Planning a fireplace TV wall? Don't overlook these 5–8 inches.

Robin recently bought a new condo with a Litedeer Homes electric fireplace and asked: “After the wood finish is installed, should the bottom of the TV sit 12 or 18 inches above the fireplace?”

FOR THIS PROJECT'S LAYOUT
We suggested about 5–8 inches between the TV's bottom edge and the fireplace's upper decorative trim, subject to the fireplace and TV installation requirements. This is a project-specific layout suggestion, not a universal safety clearance.

WHY PLAN IT EARLY?
📺 Too high: you may spend every movie looking up.
📐 Too low: proportions, the heater outlet and finishing requirements need careful attention.

The fireplace's position affects your final TV height—and which TV size fits the wall. Plan the fireplace size, TV size and seated viewing height together BEFORE framing, wood finishing and TV mounting. Keep ventilation openings clear and have your installer check both manufacturers' instructions.
