Every now and then, we learn something about one of the many items that cross our path.

Sometimes the items that are seemingly simple have very interesting tidbits of historical information attached to them.

This little "trinket" is actually a caviar and butter dish from the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. It was used as a holder for the delights onboard but also as a holder for a butter knife or caviar serving spoon.

Each accompanying utensil that would have been specifically designed and branded according to the specific train and route it was on at the time. This specific one would have originated around the time that the west was settled, in the late 1800's, during settling and formation of what is now known as "Alberta" which officially became part of Canada in 1905.

Something that some people may pass by, but just look at the history we were able to gather from just one item in this private collection.
