This painting brings me a lot of emotions.

1. Pride, that I could create something beautiful for someone to display proudly in their home. It’s huge, and is the biggest piece I’ve ever done.
2. Grief. Because there were very early mornings I laid on the floor sobbing with a paintbrush in my hand, trying to complete this piece when it felt like everything inside of me was falling apart.
3. Gratitude that I have an art form that can carry me so through many parts of my life — even the incredibly tough ones.

I started painting when I was just going into University. I remember when I switched from nursing to a general science major, and coming home at that time just to throw myself into painting because my anxiety was too much to bear. Over the years it was my reprieve from studying, my last night fascination, and eventually my sole income for a few years while I was completing my Masters and between jobs. I’m an accountant now, but at my core, I’m an artist.

For awhile painting and art felt like it was all I could do. All I was capable of. Without it, I don’t even want to know how I might have felt.

Some pieces bring happiness. Some bring memories. Some are just pretty to look at. And some are extra, extra special.

Thank you for the privilege of making you this one-of-a-kind Sleeping Giant piece.

Shedding a tear for all the glass bottle bottoms I left on the beach… 😪

The idea for these has been living in my head for awhile! Handmade with real Lake Superior beach glass and handpainted with a silhouette of the Lake, the translucent colours make these the perfect suncatchers ☀️

Can’t wait to show them off February 8 at — one of a kind, and only two available!

Welcome to Kindness Calling! From handpainted wood signs to car dream catchers and accessories, all items I offer are handmade with love and care. All signs are hand painted (no vinyl or stickers!), and each dream catcher has been handcrafted by myself, from the webbing to the final touches! I am located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, but am happy to ship worldwide.

A portion of all sales go toward Operation Christmas Child and I Love First Peoples, helping to bring some joy to children in need.
