Perched at the highest point in Vancouver, the Bloedel Conservatory is one of the city’s most beloved hidden gems — a warm, tropical sanctuary sitting above the clouds, the city, and the everyday. This original hand-drawn sketch captures the Conservatory’s iconic domed silhouette rising from the manicured gardens of Queen Elizabeth Park, with the Vancouver skyline and the North Shore mountains stretching out behind it.

Opened in 1969 and named after philanthropist Prentice Bloedel, the Conservatory houses over 500 exotic plants and more than 200 free-flying birds beneath its triodetic dome — a riot of colour and life that feels worlds away from the city streets below. Queen Elizabeth Park itself is Vancouver’s highest point at 167 metres, offering some of the most spectacular 360-degree views in the city — from the downtown skyline to Mount Baker on a clear day. Stroll the sunken rose garden, wander the quarry gardens, or simply sit on the lawn and watch the city unfold below you. The Conservatory is the jewel at the top — and once you’ve been inside, you’ll understand why Vancouverites keep coming back.

Ive added a couple of sketches to the existing Vancouver collection. This one is of the Totem Poles in Stanley Park with the Lion bridge and a cruise ship jn the backgrohnd. Few places in Vancouver carry as much cultural weight as the totem poles at Brockton Point in Stanley Park. Standing tall against a backdrop of towering Douglas firs and the waters of Burrard Inlet, these magnificent poles represent the living artistic traditions of the Squamish, Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and other First Nations peoples of the Pacific Northwest.

Stanley Park itself is one of the great urban parks of the world, 405 hectares of old-growth forest, seawall, beaches, and gardens sitting at the edge of downtown Vancouver.

The third sketch in the new Banff National Park collection. There are hotels, and then there is the Fairmont Banff Springs. Rising from the confluence of the Bow and Spray Rivers like a Scottish baronial castle transplanted into the heart of the Canadian Rockies, this is one of the most iconic buildings in Canada — and one of the most dramatic settings any hotel has ever occupied. This original hand-drawn sketch captures the grandeur of the Fairmont Banff Springs, its turrets and towers framed by the peaks of Banff National Park in all their mountain majesty.

Few scenes in Canada stop you in your tracks quite like the Rocky Mountaineer rounding Morant’s Curve. This sketch captures the iconic navy-and-gold train as it snakes through the Bow Valley, framed by the towering peaks of Banff National Park — a moment where engineering and wilderness meet in perfect, breathtaking harmony.

Morant’s Curve, named after Canadian Pacific Railway photographer Nicholas Morant, has been drawing photographers, painters, and train enthusiasts to this bend in the Bow River since the 1940s.

Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the town of Banff is one of Canada’s most iconic destinations — a place where mountain grandeur meets a charming alpine streetscape. This sketch captures the spirit of Banff with the unmistakable silhouette of Cascade Mountain rising behind the rooftops, a scene that has drawn visitors and dreamers to this UNESCO World Heritage landscape for generations.

Banff National Park has been calling people into the mountains since 1885 — and once you’ve been, you understand why.

The last sketch in the new Montreal collection. So many awesome spots, coming back to sketch up more soon.

Rue Saint-Paul is the oldest street in Montréal, running through the heart of Vieux-Montréal along the waterfront. First laid out in the 17th century, it has been a centre of commerce, culture, and daily life for over 350 years — lined with stone buildings, galleries, restaurants, and boutiques that give Old Montréal much of its distinctive character.

The 2nd sketch in the new Montreal collection.

Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is the largest church in Canada and one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world — a basilica that crowns the northern slope of Mont Royal, its great copper dome rising above the city and visible from across Montréal.

This sketch captures the Oratory from the approach, with a statue of Saint Joseph standing in the foreground and the broad walkway leading the eye upward toward the basilica.

New Montreal collection is now out. There are so many awesome spots to sketch up, this is the 1st one in the collection.

La Grande Roue de Montréal rises above the Old Port waterfront as one of the city’s most striking modern landmarks. Standing 60 metres tall, it’s the tallest observation wheel in Canada — a bold, luminous presence along the St. Lawrence River that has quickly become a defining part of Montréal’s skyline.

In the background, the silver dome of Marché Bonsecours anchors the scene — one of Canada’s most recognized heritage buildings, a former market hall that has stood in the heart of Old Montréal since 1847.

The last sketch in the Yarmouth collection.

Milton Clock Tower Park stands in the Milton area of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia — a quiet neighbourhood landmark where the town’s historic clock tower rises above a small green space surrounded by homes and local streets.

The four-sided clock tower, topped with its distinctive cupola, has long served as a familiar reference point for residents. More than just a structure, it’s a piece of everyday Yarmouth life — the kind of landmark people pass on walks, notice in changing seasons, and use as a meeting point in the neighbourhood.

Moving is always about leaving some memories behind and creating new ones. I’m happy I could create this commission of their home so the couple can take this memory with them — with their cute dog waiting on the porch.
