A blue room comes alive with rust and cognac
A neutral home opens up to burgundy, deep plum, and oxblood in the most gorgeous way.

And if the space just needs a little more grounding, a chocolate brown or deep taupe is always the answer.

These are the colour pairings that feel rich, sophisticated, and completely intentional, nothing seasonal about them, just warmth done well.

We all love a pumpkin, but a doorstep full of them is not a design plan.

An elevated fall home is about texture, warmth, and bringing the outdoors in, with the pumpkins playing a supporting role rather than taking over the whole show.

One or two beautiful pumpkins, intentionally arranged alongside other elements, will always feel more sophisticated than a seasonal haul from the decor store.

There is so much more we can do to bring that fall feeling in, and it starts with texture and colour long before it gets to the pumpkin patch

Here's a dining room spend-or-save rule that might surprise you... invest in the chairs, save on the table.

The table takes minimal wear and tear and can absolutely be a ready-made piece you update down the line.

But the chairs? Those are what your guests are sitting in for hours, and there is nothing that kills the atmosphere of a long dinner faster than a chair that's hurting someone's back.

Get the chairs right. And while we're talking about the dining room, please don't ignore your windows.

Whether you go custom or ready-made drapery, make sure it's hanging high and grazing the floor.

That one detail alone transforms the entire room.

If there is one piece of furniture worth spending on, it's your sofa.

This is the piece that gets used every single day, by everyone in the house, for years, and the difference between a quality sofa and one that isn't is something you will feel within the first few years of owning it.

Losing its shape, fabric that's already failing, a comfort level that never quite felt right because you ordered it online and never sat in it first.

Spend as much as you can afford here, get the size and fabric right, and it's a piece that can genuinely last you 20 years.

The biggest home office design mistake?

Adding so much personality that the space stops being somewhere you can actually focus.

Beautiful and functional aren't opposites, but there's a real difference between a space that reflects who you are and one that overstimulates you every time you sit down to work.

In this office, the wall our client faces while she works is intentionally simple - just the softness of painted moulding, nothing that competes with her concentration.

Personality lives in the details on the other walls. That balance is everything.

Applied moulding is one of those details that completely transforms a room, and when it's painted out in the same colour as the walls, ceiling, and trim, the effect is incredibly sophisticated.

No harsh contrasts, no jarring edges, just this soft, layered architectural detail that adds so much depth and character to an otherwise simple space.

It's one of my favourite ways to bring a room to life without overwhelming it.
