Space Reimagined - Spotlight: The Kitchen | Frederick Reno
Here’s the great impact of removing this partition wall in my client’s condo. We opened the kitchen to natural light and created a bright, welcoming space that feels much larger and increased overall functionality. The new layout offers generous counter space for meal prep, a chance for my client to socialize while adding the finishing touches, a lovely spot for an open buffet when a crowd is expected. We also expanded the kitchen into the former laundry room and added an expansive pantry and valuable storage, while the washer, dryer and utility sink remain hidden.

An open-concept design doesn't just modernize a kitchen. It changes the way you live in it.

Where raw material inspires art
For someone in my business, visiting the marble quarries of Tuscany was truly an exciting experience. These mountains are the source of the world-famous Carrara marble—the very stone Michaelangelo chose for his masterpieces, David and the Pietà.
As my train pulled into Carrara, I caught my first glimpse of the mountains, their white streaks revealing the marble hidden within. It was an unforgettable sight. Standing in the Apuan Alps and seeing where this extraordinary stone has been quarried for centuries gave me a whole new appreciation for its beauty and history.
Marble begins as limestone, transformed over millions of years by intense heat and pressure deep within the Earth. The result is the luminous, durable stone that has inspired artists, architects, and designers for generations.
To see the source of one of the world’s most iconic materials was both humbling and inspiring. Some places remind you that nature is the greatest artist of all.

BONUS! We removed the fireplace since it’s no longer to code in condo buildings, and found a ton of bonus space behind the wall in the living room and the office. My client loved the idea of building a ceiling to floor bar in the living room and added storage on the office. Stay tuned to see the completed project.
