Moisture control isn’t finishing… it’s construction. Especially in bathrooms.

Tile is what you see.
Waterproofing is what protects your investment.

Behind every beautiful bathroom should be a fully sealed system:
– Proper membrane on floors and walls (not just the shower base)
– Sealed seams, corners, and penetrations
– Sloped substrate directing water to the drain
– Waterproofing carried beyond the wet zone (where splashes actually reach)

Because here’s the truth:

Water doesn’t fail dramatically.
It fails slowly… and invisibly.

And when it does, you’re not fixing tile.
You’re removing drywall, subfloor, framing — and starting over.

Low-voltage planning — internet hubs, security systems, speakers, intercom, and TV rough-ins — is almost always forgotten until it’s too late.
And the TV is where most homeowners get it wrong.
Behind every TV, you should be running Cat6a (minimum). While Cat6 is common, Cat6a supports faster speeds and better shielding — critical for seamless 4K and 8K streaming.
And never just one line.
Run two connections:
One for the TV itself.
One for a peripheral — Apple TV, gaming console, or sound system.
Because no matter how good your Wi-Fi is…
hardwiring will always outperform it for high-bitrate content.
Miss this stage, and you’re opening walls later — damaging finishes, adding cost, and compromising the design.

Most people think a trim package is just a finishing detail.
But baseboards, shoe mould, door casings, window casings, and crown moulding quietly define the entire character of a home.
They’re the architectural punctuation of a room.
Clean square edges feel crisp, modern, and minimal.
Layered profiles add depth, softness, and a more traditional sensibility.
Neither is right or wrong — but choosing without intention is where many renovations quietly lose their design clarity.
The moulding profile you select should align with the architecture of your home and the overall design direction you’re trying to achieve.
Scale matters too.
The size of your mouldings should always relate to ceiling height and room proportions.
Too modern in a traditional home can feel sterile.
Too ornate in a modern space can feel disconnected.
And here’s the detail most homeowners don’t realize:
Trim choices also affect cost, carpentry time, and finishing work.
Stain-grade profiles, layered casings with backband, and complex crown installations can significantly increase your millwork budget if they aren’t planned from the beginning.
This is exactly the kind of detail that quietly sneaks up on a renovation budget.
