All our projects begin with a conversation.

It’s not about tile, faucets, wall colour or accessories. It’s about how our clients want to live in their space. Those conversations lead us to a design direction.

Materials, textures, colours, and finishes are not individual pieces. They are part of a larger story. This palette established the foundation for the principal bedroom ensuite. It informed every design decision that followed.

A collection of finishes chosen to create a space that feels functional, calming and deeply personal.

Square footage is one of the first things people look at when judging a home. Unfortunately, size alone does not tell us whether a room works.

A large kitchen can still feel inefficient. A generous bedroom can still lack storage. And a compact condo can feel remarkably comfortable when circulation, function, and daily routines have been considered properly.

At Kalli George Interiors, we begin with the life a space needs to support.

- Where will you put down groceries?
- Can two people move through the room comfortably?
- Is there a place to work, rest, gather, and recharge?
- What needs to be stored out of sight so the room can feel calm?

More space can be helpful. Better planning is what makes a home feel easier to live in.

That is the measure that matters.

KGI Design Studies | 230 Square Feet in Toronto

This Toronto rental was just 230 square feet in total.

A compact kitchen. A three-piece bathroom. And a main room measuring only 112 square feet. Smaller than many hotel rooms asked to function as a living room, dining room, bedroom, workspace, and additional storage.

The property owner originally hired us to guide the renovation finishes, but what stayed with us was the question of how much life that one room needed to hold.
The default solution in a small space like this is often a Murphy bed.

For a rental, though, a permanent built-in can be an expensive investment that stays behind when the tenant moves on. More importantly, a living space still needs to feel like somewhere to live.

So, we looked for another way.

A full bank of cabinetry created much-needed storage. A table and chairs provided a place to eat and work. Instead of allowing a bed to take over the room, we proposed a raised platform with a twin mattress; comfortable enough for sleeping, but styled as a sofa during the day with layered pillows and cushions.

The result was not more square footage. It was a room that could support a fuller life within the space it already had.
Small-space design is not about squeezing in more. It is about making each square foot work harder without making the room feel smaller.

Some of the most important design decisions are the ones you never notice.

A room works best when every element has a reason for being there. Furniture should solve a problem. Storage should simplify everyday life. Lighting should support how the space is used. Even decorative pieces should contribute to the atmosphere rather than simply filling an empty corner.

When every decision earns its place, rooms begin to feel calm, balanced, and effortless. The opposite is also true.
When objects are chosen without purpose, a room starts to compete with itself. It becomes visually louder, harder to use, and more difficult to maintain.

Good design isn't about adding more. It's about making every decision count.

KGI Design Studies | Home Office + Wellness Space

Not every room has one purpose.

This project challenged us to combine two functions that don't naturally belong together: a professional home office and a personal fitness space.

The homeowner worked from home full-time and wanted a room that looked polished during video calls without giving away that it also housed workout equipment. Just as importantly, they wanted closed storage to reduce visual clutter and a layout that made both working and exercising feel comfortable.

Rather than starting over, we worked with what already existed. The black closet doors and feature wallpaper became part of the design, while every new piece of furniture was selected for both its function and its footprint. In a room this size, every inch mattered.

A sit-stand desk supported long workdays. A large credenza concealed office supplies and filing. A row of tall plants created a natural separation between the workspace and the Peloton without blocking light or making the room feel smaller.

The result isn't a home office with a bike tucked into the corner. It's a room that transitions effortlessly between productivity and wellness.

One of the biggest lessons from this project is that multifunctional spaces don't need to feel compromised. When every decision has a purpose, a single room can support completely different parts of your day while still feeling calm, intentional, and beautifully resolved.

Some renovations change how a room looks. The best ones change how it feels to live there.

For this project, every decision was made with two growing girls in mind. The bedroom became more than a place to sleep. It became a place to study, read, spend time together, and begin developing a sense of independence. Thoughtful storage reduced visual clutter without sacrificing function.

A concealed study area tucked behind the closet doors created a dedicated place for schoolwork while keeping the room calm and organized. In the ensuite, every element was designed to make daily routines easier and more enjoyable.

The connection between the bedroom and bathroom was intentional. Shared colours, materials, and details allowed the two spaces to feel like one cohesive retreat rather than separate rooms.

Years from now, they may not remember the tile or the vanity. We hope they'll remember having a space that felt like it was truly designed for them.

The success of this project wasn't measured by the new vanity or the walk-in shower. It was measured by how naturally the space fit into everyday life.

The bedroom became a place to study, read, and spend time together. Behind what appears to be a standard closet door is a dedicated workspace with shelving, storage, and room for a chair giving schoolwork a permanent home without adding visual clutter to the room.

The ensuite continues that same philosophy. Everything has its place. Daily routines became easier. Storage reduced the need for surfaces to become catch-alls, allowing the room to remain calm, organized, and easy to maintain.

One of our favourite details isn't the largest feature in the room. It's the connection between the spaces. The blue tones, the custom wall treatment, and the carefully considered details allow the bedroom and ensuite to feel like they belong together rather than existing as separate rooms. That's what thoughtful design does. It quietly supports the way people live, every single day.

💾 Save this if you're planning a family bathroom or bedroom renovation.

A bathroom shouldn't feel disconnected from the room beside it. Although the renovation focused on the ensuite, the vision extended beyond its four walls. The goal was to create a space that felt personal to its owner while maintaining a natural connection to the adjoining bedroom.

Blue became the thread that tied the two spaces together. It wasn't chosen simply because it was a favourite colour. It became a design language. Different tones of blue appeared throughout the ensuite, then subtly carried into the bedroom through a custom geometric wall treatment created with painted wood dowels. The result was continuity rather than repetition.

The project also reminded us that impact doesn't always come from adding more. Sometimes restraint creates the strongest design. Limiting the palette allowed texture, proportion, and thoughtful detailing to become the focus instead of competing for attention.

One of our favourite parts of this project happened during the design process. The homeowner's daughters were invited to help shape the finishes and colours. Giving them a voice created a space that reflected their personality and a room they felt proud to call their own.

Beautiful rooms don't just reflect good design. They reflect the people who live in them.
