Our clients specifically told us they wanted moments in their home that guests would remember, and we love that as a design brief.

Think about the homes you remember. There's something about them that just sticks with you. A wild piece of art. An amazing chair. A colour you never would have chosen yourself but suddenly want everywhere.

That gave us permission at our High Park Project to make choices with personality, including tailored statement furniture with that European sensibility our clients love.

Project Durand was basically one big exercise in asking, “How much can we change without losing the reason we loved this house in the first place?” Because this Queen Anne manor DID need change. We reimagined the main and second-floor layouts, opened up rooms and worked to bring in much more natural light.

But we weren’t interested in wiping the slate clean. The ensuite is such a good little snapshot of that entire renovation. It’s clearly made for life today, but the arches, warmer finishes, softer shapes and slightly unexpected details keep some of that old-house soul in the room.

If you’re renovating an older Toronto home, don’t underestimate the first ten feet after you walk through the front door.

For Project Roncesvalles, we completely reworked the layout to make everyday life and entertaining easier for Veronica and Dave, but we still wanted it to feel like it belonged in the house.

The contrast does a lot of the work here. Dark against light, straight lines next to arches, and a simple palette that lets the original character of the home come through.

We had such a great time at the Avenue Road Summer Garden Party the other day.

The design carried right through from indoors to out, which made the whole evening feel like an experience in itself.

We left energized and full of ideas. Thank you for having us again. We’re so lucky to have something like this in our city. It really is such a gift to the design community.

If five people are getting ready under one roof, the bathrooms cannot be designed for the fantasy version of family life.

Our High Park clients have a busy family of five, and they told us right from the beginning that flow and function really mattered. So their bathrooms needed to feel refined without becoming the space where everyday life immediately ruins the illusion.

I don’t know if there’s a better compliment than a client saying they would recommend us to someone else. When you think about it, you’re basically saying, “I’d trust these people with my friend’s home too.”

And after months of drawings, renovation decisions, lighting, furniture and all the conversations that happen in between... that feels pretty special.
We want our clients to love the beautiful home at the end, obviously. But we also want them to feel heard and taken care of while we’re getting there.

Our clients asked for a “California-style” living room, but what they were really chasing was the feeling they got every time they stayed somewhere that made them instantly relax.

Light pouring in from every direction. Friends spreading out without anyone feeling crammed together. A room that somehow feels calm, even when it’s full of people.

When they came back to us after renovating their second floor a few years earlier, the goal was to make the main floor carry that same relaxed feeling, so the whole house finally felt like one story instead of two separate projects.

We think “open concept” has become one of those phrases everyone uses, but nobody really stops to ask why they want it. Most people don’t actually want one giant room.

They want to cook without feeling cut off. They want to keep chatting while someone’s setting the table. Or want guests to wander naturally instead of everyone getting stuck in one spot.

That’s exactly what Veronica was after. Moving the kitchen to the centre of the home was simply about making the whole main floor feel more social.
