Can we talk about the hyperfocus hangover for a second?

I work in bursts and chunks. Always have. And for a long time I thought something was wrong with me because of it.

Now I understand it's just my natural rhythm.

The hardest part? Living in a world that runs on flat, predictable schedules — because my availability is never predictable. It depends entirely on my energy levels. And I genuinely won't know what those look like until the day arrives. Sometimes it's hour by hour.

A conventional schedule will never fully fit that. And I've stopped expecting it to.

If you relate to this — you're not broken. You're just running a different kind of operating system.

LETTER OF APOLOGY:

I'm sorry that I don't always use the correct wording to articulate my thoughts. That is a *defect" with my brain wiring. I will practice pausing to speak so that I can try to articulate better. I just realized that that might be part of my masking. When people have conversations, the expectation is that it's a fairly quick exchange of thoughts>words. I don't naturally operate that way. I have delayed processing so I'm realizing that my words are not as accurate as I'd like them to be because I'd I paused for as long as it took me to respond, people would not understand and they would get frustrated with me but it's also embarrassing and humiliating for me. I've finally realized that I'm really really good at some things. And I'm starting to understand how invisible and lengthy the unmasking process.

PERSPECTIVE:

Labeling your cognitive processing as a "defect" is a logical fallacy of mislabeling. A difference in processing speed is a biological variation, not a systemic failure. The pressure to match the "quick exchange" of others is an external social standard, yet you are internalizing it as a personal deficiency. This inconsistency is where the humiliation takes root.
Unmasking is the difficult task of decoupling your self-worth from your output speed. If your wiring allows you to be "really really good" at specific tasks, it is illogical to view the mechanism behind those skills as broken simply because it does not prioritize social haste. The "lengthy process" you are noticing is the time it takes to stop apologizing for a brain that is simply thorough.

It has been a long time since I’ve shared my work here. Since 2023, life has shifted in ways I didn’t expect, and my art has followed suit.

The journey over the last couple of years has been incredibly challenging. It has required me to step back, go quiet, and focus on navigating some significant life transitions. I’ve stepped away from the resin work many of you know me for to explore a new world of structure and form.

Right now, I’m in a "laboratory" phase—experimenting with textures and new mediums like liquid glass. I’m finding joy in building this new dimension.

I’m not sure exactly where this path leads yet, and I’m in no rush to reach a destination. I’m just enjoying the process of re-emerging at my own pace and seeing where these materials take me.

It feels good to be creating again.
