Every year we dream of taking up fishing. This is the year. We spent the last year collecting gear and finally have been able to get out on the water. We hand make these mugs on the wheel and then apply these decals from the paintings by Nova Scotia artist

In the 19th and 20th centuries, clamming in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia grew from small-scale local harvesting into a structured commercial industry. Expanding coastal populations and improved transportation in the 1800s increased demand, while canneries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries enabled wider export. By the mid-1900s, new tools and mechanization improved efficiency and yields. However, overharvesting and environmental concerns led to increased government oversight, including regulated seasons and protected shellfish areas, helping transition the industry toward more sustainable practices that continue.
