New ceramics studio and shop coming soon to qathet 🥰

Fall is usually a busy time for me with preparing for markets and making wholesale pots for the holidays and I’ve decided to make it busier by opening a new ceramics studio in downtown Powell River. This has been my dream for a very long time and I really can’t wait to get started 😌

qathet ceramics will be opening sometime this November 🥳 🤞 The 1400 square foot studio will offer monthly memberships for experienced potters and classes for adults. There will be a bit of a retail section with pots for sale, too.

I’ll be sharing more about the space, the renos, and the journey on the studio’s page qathet ceramics so please follow along for updates 😌💕🫶🏺

The Official Cup of BlackBerry Fest ™️ is here!

These cups will be available Saturday, August 22 at the BlackBerry Jam at Willingdon Beach park, from 12-8.

I wanted to make something special to commemorate my very first BlackBerry Fest 🤗 I toiled over making and testing the glaze for the last few weeks and I am pleased with the deep blackberry result. If you aren’t able to make it to the event, you can pick one of these up at the qathet Visitor Centre.

🐸 Frog Shirt Pre Order is now Live 🐸

I made these shirts originally three years ago and the frog lovers want more ☺️ This time I am doing a pre order on my website which will be open until August 4th. Sizes are S - 5XL. link in bio.

some pots lately 🌱

It’s been a busy time in the studio with a handful of different wholesale orders. The rhythm of throwing and trimming is what I enjoy the most about these orders.

Now I am looking down the barrel into days of glazing and firing the kiln which I have a bit less enthusiasm for 🫣 🙃

It’s worth it when all the pots are done though, I often remind myself ☺️

January was a wild month for us 🌟🥰🥵

We signed the rental contract on our new (to us) house in Powell River a couple days before Christmas and started packing everything up once the holidays were over. It all happened very swiftly- I emailed one landlord on Craigslist, pestered him again with a follow up email, and then we got the place. I was prepared for months of back and forth viewings and tomfoolery. None of that happened which is unimaginably lucky 🍀

It feels bizarre that in 2026 I have made zero pots so far. Moving both our home and my studio has taken quite a bit of time and energy. All the electrical for the kiln has been completed for the basement studio and the kiln is now waiting for me. I am eager to get back on the wheel 👹💕
