Garth has been very busy this weekend. The woodshop called he answered. As always creating with local hardwoods from our own sawmill's wares. Can't get more Canadian made than that. Sawdust is man glitter.

The best way to start is just to start ... as any small business owner will tell you. We dare to dare. Taking our 1883 built Canadian Railway Freight Shed that no one wanted. Garth bought her for the price of moving her off the Beaver Lumber Lot. Over 100 years of service to the community and she was forgotten. Most folks don't even realize what she represents. A corner stone of our community with wares flowing in and out of Virden & district. But we know her worth. All 2000 square feet of her brought back to life repaired and revered. Our past is our future. Our old girl is looking good except for our current inventory chaos.

Adding more inventory and setting up the new section on south wall. No rest for the wicked.

Thankful Thursday ... does that sound corny ... I hope not. 🤣
Because of you we can improve our store's displays. We are attacking the south wall much like we did the east wall. Adding grid wall and Garth is making spalted poplar shelves.
We are doubling down on "Elbows Up" 🇨🇦.
The extra display space will be a great help. We have had to add it slowly as we can afford it. Got to live and spend within our means.

Wednesday Wisdom if it fits I sits 🐈. Ancient office chair ... which we should throw out but can't ... meets daddy's girl. Gabbi our shop cat loves ♥️ Garth and anything he touches. He rescued her as a kitten.

Tuesday talk ... Fall 2026 decor, handmade wares, & candles are loading at Nixon Mercantile Co. I am busy in the studio making autumn 🍂 themed pretties. I may break out Bumble Bee Jasper, and my horde of Red Creek Jasper.
We are going to be upping our store display game with two new sections showcasing Garth's solid wood shelves. One for our use and product display and one will be for shelf selections on offer. Yes ... yes there will be more live edge options ... because everyone has been asking for more.
Please bear with us as we two old farts toil away creating and renovating. Our social media presence will be less as we are dancing as fast as we can.

FYI - I have two preserved Boxwood wreaths ... well maybe 🤔 just one because I may scoop one for our abode 🤣. I see them as "Classy Fall" . Simple ... elegant ... natural. They are not suited for outdoor use but would make fab autumn 🍂 interior accents .... love ... 🧡 ... love.
