Hot take: Your child’s art doesn’t need to look like anything. 👀

That’s the beauty of process art.

Traditional crafts often have a finished product in mind.

Process art asks something different:

What happens when we let children lead?

They choose.
They experiment.
They make mistakes.
They change their minds.
They figure things out.

And in the process, they’re building curiosity, confidence, independence and trust in their own ideas.

The goal isn’t a perfect picture.

The goal is a child who believes, “I can create something of my own.”

And that can last a lifetime. 🫶

This past week we brought our Bubs Summer Magic Paint Tent & Sensory Play experience to three preschool classes for their summer program🪸💦🫧

With paintbrushes, sponge dabbers, spray bottles, colourful water play, tons of bubbles, and good tunes - the children were free to get super messy! 🤪😁

Our favourite part? Every colour, tool and creative choice was theirs to make. We let them lead the way and in the process, they weren’t just making art and playing - they were decision making, coming up with their own ideas and trusting themselves.

The mess was temporary.
The joy and experience = priceless🧡

🧸We're inviting you to take part in our very first Stuffy Adoption Event, kicking off this Saturday, July 18.

For a $10 donation (in person or etransfer), you can choose to:

🧸 Adopt a stuffy to take home.

OR

🎁 Pay it forward by adopting a stuffy for someone within the community that could use a little extra love.

Some pay-it-forward stuffies may find their way to a child, an adult with a disability, or a senior who could use a comforting companion.

Proceeds from this event will help sponsor an upcoming community outing for people with disabilities, creating opportunities for connection, friendship, and fun.

👉Children today have fewer opportunities for unstructured, child-led exploration, with much of their time focused on schedules and outcomes.

👉Child-led experiences foster curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking by encouraging exploration over perfection.

👉Open-ended play builds confidence, independence, resilience, and self-expression because children learn to trust their own ideas without the fear of getting it “wrong.”

👉Through Bubs Artspace, I’ve seen children transform once they realize there are no expectations - only opportunities to explore, and that’s where the real growth happens.

👉I believe the greatest outcome isn’t the artwork, it’s helping children develop confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Okay… these toddlers understood the assignment🌼😝😆

We brought our Bubs Summer Magic Paint Tent & Sensory Play to Serendipity Daycare and it was full of alllll the creative energy ☀️

The sweetest toddler classes painted our handmade cardboard cutouts, mixed colours, splashed, scooped, poured and followed their curiosity wherever it took them 💛

Guys, this is where the magic happens - when little ones are given the space to explore freely, trust their own ideas and build that inner confidence through play.. it’s the root of why we do what we do🧡 (and to see all those smiling faces of course!😁)

This part of the process feels just as magical to me as the experience itself.

I don’t measure or follow a template, I simply let my creativity lead. Every sketch and every cut is created by hand, some even created by my 5 year old - and yes they will be used in our upcoming experiences! What blossomed from our imaginations will be something that will soon spark creativity and wonder in a room full of little artists.

It’s a full-circle experience. The joy isn’t just in seeing the finished setup come to life, it’s in creating every piece along the way. And I think that’s where the real magic begins. ✨

Hey Friends! As a mama of two little ones, ages 2 and 5, this is something I think about often — and I know so many parents do too.

How do we help our kids feel confident in themselves?

To trust their ideas, and know they don’t have to fit into a box to belong. To understand that their differences and individuality matter way more.

That’s one of the biggest reasons I’m so passionate about process art and sensory play.

In the most important developmental years of childhood — especially ages 1–8 — children learn best through exploring, creating, problem-solving, movement, curiosity, and connection. Open-ended, child-led experiences help build confidence, independence, creativity, emotional expression, and so much more.

Sometimes what looks like “just messy play” is actually meaningful learning happening in real time. 🫧🎨
