This painting titled "Not Broken" draws upon the Japanese art of Kintsuji ... "reflecting the philosophy of wabi-sabi (finding beauty in flaws) and serving as a metaphor for resilience and healing from life's wounds which serve to make us stronger. "

“Kintsugi can be seen as a powerful metaphor for human resilience. In our lives, we all experience moments of pain, loss and trauma that can leave us emotionally wounded. But like Kintsugi, we can choose to repair those wounds and transform them into something beautiful and valuable.”

“Not Broken” is a contemporary interpretation of Kintsugi, where golden veins trace across the figure's form, suggesting that our breaks and repairs become part of our strength and beauty, mapping stories of endurance across the figure's body. The contrast between vulnerable flesh tones and gleaming metal leaf speaks to the duality of fragility and strength that defines human experience.
