ALTI Atelier is a Zurich-based design studio creating custom wooden furniture, bespoke objects and interior design solutions. We work closely with our clients to design and build pieces that are made to fit their space, needs and everyday life — from one-of-a-kind furniture and objects to thoughtful room transformations, designed with clarity and intention. From walk-in closet to dream kids room. 🦖
What used to be an open passage space between the bedrooms is now a fully functional kids room, designed and built completely custom for this little guy and his current dinosaur obsession.
The challenge?
The space was only 6m² and technically not even a room to begin with. So the first step was transforming the structure itself: building a new wall between the beams, adding a door, integrating indirect lighting throughout the room, and creating a lighting setup that works both manually and app-controlled for different moods throughout the day.
From there, every centimeter had to work hard.
We designed and built a fully custom elevated bed with safety nets, integrated storage stairs, a foldable desk adapted exactly to the room dimensions, and a magnetic blackboard hidden on the backside of the tabletop.
To make the room feel playful instead of crowded, we combined functionality with movement and imagination:
• climbing wall with soft landing mats
• hammock corner for toys
• LEGO wall
• open shelving for books and decor
• handmade wooden dinosaur details throughout the room
• custom dinosaur growth chart behind the door
Everything was built piece by piece, using real wood and designed specifically for how this room would actually be used every day.
Small spaces don’t need less ambition, they just need smarter design.

The best interiors balance practicality with atmosphere.

In this attic living room -the central space of the home and connected to the kitchen- the goal was to bring together better lighting, practical storage, and a design that enhances the overall atmosphere of the room.

We designed and built a fully custom wall system that combines open shelving, hidden storage, and integrated lighting, all tailored precisely to the architecture of the space.

The shelving includes app-controlled LED lighting, adjustable in brightness and color and controllable via phone app and also Alexa. This allows the room to adapt throughout the day: bright and functional when needed, warm and ambient in the evening.
Below the shelves we integrated large sliding-door cabinets, providing generous storage while keeping the living area clean and organized.

Everything was handcrafted piece by piece from solid wood, built specifically for this space.
To complete the composition, we created a custom centerpiece combining olive wood and preserved moss, adding a natural element that ties the entire wall together.

A project like this is about combining practical everyday use with warmth, atmosphere, and craftsmanship.
