How many hours should you use supplemental lighting each day?

As a general reference:

🥬 Leafy greens: around 12 hours
🍅 Tomatoes & cucumbers: around 14–16 hours
🍓 Strawberries: around 14–16 hours

But the right schedule isn’t only about hours. Natural sunlight, growth stage, light intensity and the crop’s target DLI all matter.

One thing is important: more light is not always better. Plants still need a proper dark period, so running grow lights 24 hours a day is usually not the goal.
