ARTGLASS at DesignBlok, Prague International Design Festival 2026

Seemingly unrelated objects come together in one shared story – the story of ARTGLASS.

Designed by art director Jakub Berdych Karpelis , the installation explores contrasts in scale, materials and meaning, bringing industrial technology into dialogue with the delicacy of glass, tradition and contemporary design.

Twisted | redesign by Jakub Berdych Karpelis

A new line of light.

Evolving from the original ARTGLASS Flare luminaire, Twisted brings its familiar form into a new contemporary context.

At its core is the twisted glass rod — an iconic element of traditional chandelier arms, stripped back and reimagined as a clean, luminous line. Its subtle texture captures the light, bringing movement and depth to every composition.

A familiar form, seen from a new perspective.

Sugar Candy | redesign by Jakub Berdych Karpelis

Sugar Candy is a thoughtful reinterpretation of the original Frozen lighting piece by ARTGLASS, redesigned by Jakub Berdych Karpelis. Honouring the essence of the original while introducing a fresh artistic perspective, he gives the original design a refined contemporary expression.

Inspired by rock candy on a stick—its crystalline structure, radiant sparkle and subtle sense of childhood wonder—the design captures a playful memory through the brilliance of Bohemian crystal. Delicately composed crystal elements catch and refract the light, creating a shimmering texture reminiscent of crystallised sugar.

The sparkling crystal composition is balanced by a matte copper frame, whose warm finish subtly contrasts with the brilliance of the crystal. Together, these materials create a refined dialogue between nostalgia and contemporary design.

DODO | Jakub Berdych Karpelis

DODO is more than a table lamp. It’s a play on perspective, reflection, and imagination.

Designed by Jakub Berdych Karpelis , DODO draws inspiration from mirror mazes and optical distortions that transform familiar shapes into something unexpected. Its mirrored surface continuously captures and reshapes its surroundings, while a pair of glowing bulbs in place of eyes gives the object a subtly surreal expression.

A lighting object that brings together illusion, humor, and experimentation with form.
