What could be better than the portrait of a beautiful young woman? Of course, I painted mine. A secco painting, created entirely with lime-resistant pigments.

For my study of a putto I used myself as the model — exactly 46 years ago. I worked from an old photograph, testing format and wings in a drawing.

Yesterday I helped Tübke (1929–2004) – the famous painter of the Peasants’ War Panorama in Bad Frankenhausen – take his place in the shadow-gap frame I had built the day before. He, too, had previously received a coat of gold leaf.

Ieri ho aiutato Werner Tübke (1929–2004) – il celebre pittore del Panorama della Guerra dei Contadini a Bad Frankenhausen – a prendere posto nella cornice a gola d’ombra che avevo costruito il giorno prima. Anche lui aveva ricevuto in precedenza un mantello di foglia d’oro.
