After assembling the sides around the neck and tail blocks, I glue in the first set of linings, into which I fit the side reinforcements. A second set of linings locks everything in place and adds a great deal of stiffness.
This method is similar to the side construction found in classical guitars and offers a lightweight alternative to laminated sides.

For me, it’s a balance of strength, stability, and keeping the instrument as light and responsive as possible.

Breathing some life into the thing!

Carving and refining the edge of the soundhole is only a small part of the tuning process that gives the instrument its voice. Once this process is complete, the guitar top can “breathe” and develop a distinctive tone.

Glueing linings.
The linings may never been seen once the guitar is complete, but they play an essential role in the instrument’s strength and resonance.
It’s the unseen details that define a great guitar.
