Hojin Kang is a Berlin-based Artist, Art Director and Graphic Designer ATELIER CAMEOKID – An interdisciplinary design studio, founded by Hojin Kang.

The studio focuses on visual identity, graphic design and spatial communication.

„I’ll be there soon“ was finally exhibited at the as part of the decentralized festival.

The installation is made up of pulsating light sources, representing the breaths of people with unique migration stories.

Alongside the installation, I held breath workshops and participated in a panel discussion, sharing our experiences of making ourselves at home.

In my next journal I will write about the process in more detail.

I am very grateful to be part of the „Being at Home“ panel discussion today, starting at 6pm in the . In this talk, various guests have been invited to Malstatt to describe their experiences of making themselves at home. Some of them have heimaten beyond their Saarland and German heimat-shaped by migration, family history, or displacement.

It will be one of many happenings alongside my new work „I’ll be there soon“, which will be on display at the from September 19 to 21 from 8 - 10 pm as part of the decentralized heimaten festival.

First time using porcelain in my work. First time coding with AI. First time coding a scetch that checks, if the AI has coded correctly. First time polishing brass. Finding comfort in constantly leaving your comfort zone.

Zum ersten Mal Porzellan in meiner Arbeit verwendet. Zum ersten Mal mit KI programmiert. Zum ersten Mal einen Scetch programmiert, der prüft, ob die KI korrekt programmiert hat. Zum ersten Mal Messing poliert. Komfort beim ständigen Verlassen der eigenen Komfortzone finden.

Balancing between plan implementation and openness. Not seeing material as a by-product. Embracing mistakes as an integral part of the process. Prototyping’s value really becomes clear in production.

I met the Korean-German Spiderman called Spicy Spidey. I had Italian onions and Ethiopian bread with my loved ones. I watched Arabic baboons care for each other. I searched for materials and forms that symbolize belonging. I have held my mom’s hands in a long time.
