Earlier this year, I became a member of Københavns Snedkerlaug, the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild, founded in 1554.

I’m proud to be a woman running my own business in this trade, where I’ve always felt welcome, even though women remain underrepresented. Particularly as business owners. I may just be a silly romantic but it truly means a great deal to me to be part of such a long and rich tradition of craftsmanship, carrying it forward in my own way.

I’ve been doing a lot of testing lately…

I’ve been working on creating the perfect dyed veneer for marquetry. Dyed all the way through, using a stable base veneer that is pleasant to cut precisely by hand, but durable enough to use on furniture.

At the moment, I’m working on a soft pastel colour palette, but I am also testing deeper, richer colours and more intricate, varied colour patterns.

Eventually, I’m planning to make the veneer available in small batches. But first, I’ll be using it in a piece I’m making for a new exhibition along with Trähantverkare i Väst opening this autumn.

Spent the day taking down Wildly Refined and sending my work off into the world, where it’ll begin a new life without me. It feels a little like cutting the umbilical cord. Or at least partly - but more on that later this year…

Thank you to Karen Blixen Museum for having us, and for always making us feel welcome. It has been such a pleasure to become part of your world.

And an immense thank you to my friend and exhibition partner, LOUISE BILLGREN. You’ve taught me so much through all of this, probably more than you realise. Thank you for holding my hand as we jumped into the deep end together. What a ride!

For now, it’s time for new adventures.
Onwards and upwards! 🥳

I absolutely love teaching courses. What a privilege it is to spend an entire weekend getting to know eight strangers who are eager and excited to learn a new skill. Especially when that particular skill is something I care so deeply about.

A special thank you to those of you who travelled for hours and even spent the night away from your families to be there. What troopers!
