Sloped ceilings make lighting tricky but also much more interesting.

Instead of fighting the architecture, work with it: layer ambient, task, architectural and decorative lighting around the roofline.

Functional by day, atmospheric by night. ✨

Being back in the Netherlands puts me in a very different design mood. 🇳🇱

After months surrounded by Mediterranean interiors, this Amsterdam apartment feels more structured, polished and dramatic.

And yet, there is so much I still love about Dutch interiors: original architectural details, a monochrome base, gold accents and unexpected touches of colour. ✨

✨ Option 1: Function First. Maximise storage and practicality.

The best solution depends on how you use the space.

A window into the pool? 💧

One of my favourite architectural details.

This isn’t just a window. It’s an underwater viewing panel built into the pool wall.

It looks effortless, but it’s one of the most technically challenging features in residential design.

It requires:

🏗️ Structural engineering
🪟 Thick laminated glass or acrylic
💧 Precision waterproofing
📐 Planning from day one

It’s a premium feature that can add tens of thousands of euros to a project but it also becomes the home’s biggest talking point.

Breaking down this Mediterranean terrace palette 🩷

Instead of adding more colours, this design repeats a small palette throughout the space.

• Warm neutrals create the foundation.
• Deep navy adds contrast.
• Bougainvillea pink draws the eye.
• Tropical greenery softens the space.

That’s all you need to create a balanced, inviting outdoor space 🌿
