“HER GEOGRAPHY” Chapter I: Japan

I’m starting a new series. For a long time I’ve painted emotion through the female figure. But this time, the woman is not the subject.

She is the atmosphere. In this piece, Japan is not a landscape behind her, it is moving through her. The stillness. The discipline. The fire under the silence. The precision. The reverence for beauty. The tension between softness and power.

She is not “a Japanese woman.”
She is the emotional translation of a sunrise over Mount Fuji.

When I travel, I don’t only see places. I feel their pulse. This series will be my way of translating that pulse onto canvas through a feminine presence that embodies the spirit of each land.

Japan is the beginning.

There is something about its light that feels both ancient and new.
Quiet, but volcanic.
