Bari or Monopoli for 4–5 days in Puglia?

Both can work, but they create very different trips.

Bari gives you more city life, transport connections and easy day trips. Monopoli gives you the sea, a smaller old town and a slower base where you can actually spend part of the holiday without constantly moving.

For a short summer stay, which one would I choose?
